Traditional doesn’t mean unchangeable. ‘Sefitse’ is a line from the song ‘Quedzoqo Tole Tsiku.’
In the Adyghe language, ‘se’ is a homonym that means both milk and bullet. To intensify the tragedy, the bullet in the song is called black. Death and the life-giving drink go hand in hand, as death permeates the everyday life of wartime. In the ancient time this song was performed for the wounded men, but nowadays it doesn’t use this way, you call a doctor or an ambulance. But music helps to remember the historical narratives and resonates with the actual context.
