How could sounds help us to understand the past?

Why is it important to collect songs revealing half-forgotten styles, original sounds, and unexpected use of instruments. The musical thought survived all the losses and upheavals, prohibitions, and exoticization. The consequences of the wars, Soviet cultural policies, and later contemporary language policies have created a set of problems and traumas in the Caucasus, which important to discuss nowadays from a decolonial and humanitarian perspectives.
