Guy Debord in his La Societe du Spectacle addresses that life has been replaced with its representation referring to the central importance of the image in contemporary society.
The book ‘The is nobody in the sky’ (На небе никого) by Ksenia Buksha and Arthur Bondar @arthurbondar tells stories from WWII based on archives and personal documents, and shows images taken by various people from all the sides of the front. It’s not a spectacle but the horrific scenes from the real life which bring us much closer to the narrative and link private and collective memories in one. The book is a humanistic manifesto and a tool for seeing the war as a tragedy.
